Contexts of fragility, crisis, and conflict require a nuanced understanding of local dynamics in order to avoid inappropriate or counterproductive interventions. The Timbuktu Institute places applied research and knowledge production at the core of its work, in support of public decision-makers, international institutions, and development organisations.
Our work is grounded in rigorous methodologies combining qualitative and quantitative analysis, field research, in-depth interviews, and the use of reliable secondary data sources. This approach enables a comprehensive understanding of the political, social, economic, and security realities specific to each context.
By producing contextualised, evidence-based analysis, the Timbuktu Institute contributes to strengthening the relevance of public policies and development programmes, while promoting greater local ownership of interventions.
