Our Actions
Promoting Peace through Research and Dialogue
Timbuktu Institute Strategy develops and implements initiatives that foster peace, stability and social cohesion in Africa. Our actions are grounded in applied research, strategic dialogue and training of change-agents.
1. Research & Strategic Analysis
We produce studies and analytical briefs on major security, governance and development issues. Our work helps inform policy-makers, regional organisations and civil society on the social and geopolitical dynamics across the continent.
Examples:
Studies on the prevention of violent extremism in West Africa.
Research on local governance and citizen participation.
Prospective analyses on political transitions and Sahel-related issues.
2. Dialogue & Mediation
We believe in the power of dialogue to resolve tensions and prevent conflict. Timbuktu Institute Strategy facilitates consultation spaces among political, religious, community and institutional actors.
Our initiatives:
Regional round-tables on peace and security.
Inter-religious encounters promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Technical support for community reconciliation processes.
3. Training & Capacity Building
Because lasting peace is built through capabilities, we train young leaders, journalists, educators and decision-makers in conflict prevention, strategic communication and participative governance.
Flagship programmes:
Leadership for Peace and Local Governance.
Education for Citizenship and Tolerance.
Training in Conflict Management and Social Communication.
4. Communication, Advocacy & Awareness
Our campaigns and publications aim to shift perceptions, promote dialogue and deconstruct hate-speech. We engage both traditional and digital media to amplify the voice of peace.
Examples of actions:
Production of thematic podcasts and documentaries.
Distribution of video clips on the prevention of extremism.
Organisation of awareness campaigns in schools and universities.
5. Cooperation & Partnerships
Our projects are implemented in collaboration with national and international institutions, universities, NGOs and research networks.
Key partners:
African Union, ECOWAS, United Nations
African and European universities
Regional civil society networks
